Jennifer Vela Valido
Localization Vendor Manager at Expedia Group
After finishing her studies in Audiovisual Translation and Multimedia Localization in Spain, Jennifer started her career as a translator and entrepreneur and became the co-founder of the first audiovisual translation company in the Canary Islands, Spain (Subbabel). From 2007 to 2012, Jennifer combined her role in the company as a Business Development Manager with several training courses in localization, internationalization, and innovation at entities such as the University of San Francisco (USA) or the University of Cambridge (UK). Since 2012 Jennifer has been working in the Localization Team of Expedia Group, first as the Localization Quality Manager for the Spanish market (from 2012 to 2019), and later as a Localization Vendor Manager. Jennifer is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Localization Quality Management while she works as a researcher and invited lecturer specializing in localization, linguistic quality control and new technologies in several universities, as well as a speaker at international congresses and conferences such as LocWorld, Languages and the Media, or Translating Europe Forum. In her spare time, she also manages the UK Chapter of Women in Localization, a global community for the advancement of women and the localization industry.
